Here you find my Paint.NET plug in for loading and saving Photoshop files.

The plug in does not support every feature, which is provided by the file format (there are lot’s of them). I have implemented only the stuff which has it’s counterpart in Paint.NET or if it is useful for converting the image to the Paint.NET internals.

OptiPNG is a PNG optimizer that recompresses image files to a smaller size, without losing any information. This program also converts external formats (BMP, GIF, PNM and TIFF) to optimized PNG, and performs PNG integrity checks and corrections.

The effect of “Drop Shadow effect plugin” or “Object Reflections Plugin” was added to these samples later. 

First of all, the image.

Next, select the object.
“sphere” or “cylinder” or “box”

Expansion reduction of object.
Select the “Texture Map”.
And, Rotation of object, Camera-angle, Lighting, hilight, etc…

The plugin is awesome, it supports editing and saving images to be used as cursors also. And both formats, icons and cursors, can be saved with multiple image sizes in one file to support multiple icon and cursor sizes. While it is overkill for my application, this feature will save time in the future by allowing  icons and cursors to be designed once (as a larger image) before being automatically scaled to each of the smaller sizes. The same feature addresses large icon and cursor sizes for users that require higher accessibility (another extremely important aspect of software development that is far too often ignored) making this plugin an all-in-one hit. By peasleer

It will load and save .ico, .cur and .ani files (.ani as of July 29, 2006).

When loading from an icon or cursor file that contains multiple images, you are given a prompt and allowed to choose which image to load. It always bugged me when there would be 3 or so images in an icon file and other image editors would just auto-load the low resoultion 8×8 one or something like that, so I added the feature to choose.

Although I’ve never seen any, I suppose there could be icons with 16-bit image data; there is support for this, albeit untested. Please let me know what you think.
